Arab Music

Arab Music

In Arab culture, music was considered extremely important. Its music has been influenced by folk music from different parts of the Middle East.

Common instruments used in Arab music are Qanun, Rabab, 'Ud, Tablah drums and more.

Instruments:

Qanun is a string instrument. As seen in pictures and videos online, the strings are usually plucked. It sounds quite similar to the Chinese instrument Gu zheng.

Rabab is also a string instrument, similar way of playing to a guitar. The strings are metal and have a different sound to a guitar (due to the shape and structure of the sound box).

'Ud is also a string instrument. Again, very similar to a guitar. It has a vibrating sound that resonates quite nicely. It also has seven strings, one more than a regular guitar.

Tablah Drums come in a pair. There is a bigger drum that creates a low bass noise. The smaller drum creates a pitch (almost) that resonates and almost makes a melody itself. It is a very unique and nice sounding drum.
